POODLES HAVE FUN AT AKC AGILITY TRIALS
First Licensed All-breed Trial a Big Success
of all sizes came out to show off their athletic abilities at the Greater Milwaukee Poodle Club’s first ever AKC Licensed
All-breed Agility Trial on Saturday, February 9, 2013. It was held at the Oshkosh Kennel Club’s training building. A
second trial was held on Sunday and both days were nearly ‘sold out’ with approximately 295 runs each day. Nineteen
Poodles were entered in the trial. They came from all over the State of Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The Greater Milwaukee
Poodle Club’s event committee consisted of co-chairs Susanne Nash and John Pittman and members Roberta Gilson, Andrea
Nepras, and Linda Weresh. The Trial Secretary was Lorah Marquardt, an AKC licensed secretary based in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
The judge, Joan Simon of Sheboygan, WI, had nice flowing courses that were challenging yet very fun. The dogs
must have liked her courses as there was approximately a 40% qualifying rate.
The first Poodles to Double Q:
Louisa Murphy with “Eaglehill's Dash About AX AXJ” (Dash) and Renate Newcomb with "GCH Kamann's
Silver Surfer MX MXJ" (Louie). Both Poodles earned their Q’s from the 12 inch jump class.
Kari Kenefick and "Lemerle Comical Oliver CDX RE OA OAJ" (Oliver) ran at a very respectable 5.23 yards
per second. Oliver was the first Poodle to earn a First Place in his class.
